Sometimes people want to know how the process works. I tell them there is every kind of customer in the world. Some people don’t have a clue what they want and give me free reign to let my creative imagination run the show. Others come to me with a great amount of vision already and just don’t know how to bring it to life. This client was the latter. He came to me with a survey and a thumbnail sketch of what he wanted. I mocked up his sketch in AutoCAD so that it was to scale and used my best judgment in areas that didn’t quite make sense after it was drawn to size. At this point, the customer and I felt a great connection as we were able to balance our ideas back-and-forth to find the perfect blend between his dream home, a cost effective way to build, and a design that flows. Watching this one come to life was truly inspiring and makes our job totally worth it.
